Yeah, it's kind of too bad that I was feeling so lousy, but I still ended up having a great time.

I managed to take a cruise by the UBC site over the weekend and I'm currently armed with questions and information... it's just a matter of figuring out how to go see everyone in and amongst the madness which is final papers/group presentations.

Maybe we can get together sometime next week? Akiko was telling me about the proposition for a movie night, and I'd certainly be game.

Have a great week, ne. Mine will be a success if I come out of the other side alive. (Darn English papers... むしろ日本文学について書いている．．．*grumble, grumble*)

Aw, the pictures I took didn't show up, after all.

I'm just glad I could contribute to the caper in a small way. The fact that you and Ana came up with the idea to bring cosplay into the classroom, all on your own, gives me faith that you'll be able to continue the legacy after I'm gone. *sniff, sniff*

Unless of course, we all end up in Japan. In that case we'll have an entire year to become even more strange than we were to begin with, then return to loose our penchant for the ridiculous upon one or two unsuspecting MA programmes...

I like the circus. It's the one time that I can see families more dysfunctional than mine. Hahaha.

Congratulations again on the confidence from your Write prof, that really is good news.

I've never been to the circus, so I would love to hear all about your experience sometime soon, maybe over tea.

Take care and I'll probably run into you at school.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on 'the outfit'... although you did see me AFTER I spoke with my professor, so the event in itself did a lot to pick up my confidence ("Yes -- I CAN be diplomatic!") -- that sort of thing.

It's true that I'm a little unsettled with the current tone of my blog, but this is also the result of having to keep the content neutral. I don't know if you've read any of my earlier entries, but a lot of them are high-spirited (see category "High jinks"), so they kind of balance things out. I probably told you about the time Ana and I crashed one of the Japanese Department's forum receptions, but it's in there.

The reason why it's been difficult to write about anything good is because it's related to professors, and since I'm aware that The Department knows about my blog and may even read it, I now try to stay away from those topics, or at least any with blatant identifying factors. It's kind of like that "Don't shit where you eat" thing: You don't blog about work. And since I hope that I may one day work with people in The Department, I no longer write directly about them. You might think I'm just being paranoid, but I'm also a reader of 'Dooce' (Heather Armstrong's blog), which rose to fame after she got fired for blogging about work in great critical detail.

Anyway, this is becoming way too long, but what I wanted to tell you is that I'll email you my personal journal entry about the meeting with my professor. I still write about the good things, but if they're too personal to post publicly, rest assured that I still write about them elsewhere...

Until later today then, gorgeous ~

Ooh -- first comment!

I really like your layout... it's kind of like Nobis's, but more spring-like. Very fresh and invigorating. I'm still waiting on Lea to present me the masterpiece of a layout which will capture the 'essence' of Murasaki, but I'm sure that it will be wonderful when it comes.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you a very happy blog-warming, and to kick off your readership.
